Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar has directed all power distribution companies (DISCOMs) to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply to temples and surrounding areas across the state during the upcoming Maha Shivaratri festival. During a teleconference held on Wednesday with DISCOM CMDs L. Siva Sankar, I. Prudhvi Tej, P. Pulla Reddy, and senior power department officials, the Minister reviewed preparedness measures. He emphasized that a large number of devotees are expected to visit major Shiva temples and other religious places, making continuous power supply essential for smooth conduct of rituals and public convenience.
The Minister instructed officials to take all necessary preventive measures to avoid outages during the festival period. He called for advance inspections of feeders, transformers, and distribution lines, and directed that 24x7 maintenance teams remain on standby to address any emergencies immediately. He also advised making arrangements for alternative power supply wherever required and ensuring field officers maintain strict monitoring. Describing uninterrupted power supply during Maha Shivaratri as a priority and time-bound responsibility, the Minister urged all DISCOMs to work efficiently so devotees can celebrate the festival without inconvenience.
